World3 (Limits to Growth)

The Limits to Growth model World3 is a computer-based simulation introduced in the 1972 book "The Limits to Growth" by Donella H. Meadows, Dennis L. Meadows, Jørgen Randers, and William W. Behrens III, which uses system dynamics to project scenarios for the future of human civilization based on trends in population growth, resource depletion, industrial output, pollution generation, and food production. The model suggests that without significant changes in policy and behavior, a combination of these factors could lead to overshoot and collapse of global systems by the mid to late 21st century.

You can use this interactive widget to play around with the World3 model parameters and gain intuition on how the model works.
